On Tuesday 28 February, we spoke to Lucy Mitchell, Evelyn Partners & Tom Leck, abrdn about global markets and why there had been a turn in markets since the start of 2023.

The conversation covered a wide range of topics as well as revisiting points we've talked about on previous Webinars with other panelists:

- Inflation - have we seen the peak rates globally
UK Gilts and the unusual activity in Bond markets in the last 12 months
Interest rates and predictions of what the Bank of England will do throughout 2023
- What to expect from the Spring Budget and the new Brexit deal

We also talked about what to watch out for in 2023.  The two key elements to allow markets to begin the recovery from what was a very difficult 2022.are a drop in inflation and a slow down in interest rate rises.

Markets ultimately want to go up and we are starting to see this bear out in investment portfolios too. There is nothing particularly concerning on the horizon and much of the negative predictions made in 2022 will not be realised.

We hope you are also reassured of the benefits of having investments in actively managed portfolios as even when unusual changes emerge, such as the movement in bond markets, fund managers can also take advantage of other opportunities in these areas.

Please watch the webinar for more expert insights into these areas and do not hesitate to contact me with any questions relating to your investments.
